Are You Relying On Your Wishbone???

I just finished up having an interesting conversation, and it made me recognize something, and I thought I’d share it with you. When I tell you about this conversation, you are going to think I was a little harsh! You’re going to be shocked at what I said to the other person! But this topic is a conversation I have with myself often, and so the words just seemed to flow from my mouth!

The topic was about being “wishy-washy.”

The definition of wishy-washy is someone or something uncertain, indecisive and wavering, or someone who cannot make up his mind.

The conversation went like this: “Listen, my friend, the fact is the world does not owe you anything, and it doesn’t owe me anything! We owe the world!” When I was talking this out, it hit me! “I think it’s just time for all of us to stop daydreaming. “It sounds like you are walking around in a daydream, and it’s time you start taking action.”

There was silence for a moment. I knew I just blurted out some pretty harsh words. But after the silence, they asked me, “What do you mean?” So, I kept talking!

“The question to ask yourself is, “are you doing, or are you dreaming in this world today? With all the options and endless paths available to take, sometimes the opportunities right in front of us get missed. We are too busy worrying about missing out on one thing that we miss out on everything. Don’t be the person that can’t make up their mind!”

Something interesting happened. The person I was talking to said, “I make up my mind sometimes! But then again, I don’t think I make it up very often, or maybe I do? Hmm “

They couldn’t even make up their mind that they can make up their mind!

It seems like so many of us have lost our backbone, and instead, we have a wishbone.

I feel like we have to develop a backbone because it seems like so many of us have lost our backbone, and instead, we have a wishbone. “I wish that my circumstances were better,” or “I wish I had more money,” or “I wish I had better vehicles, I wish I had a better job- a better career or a better business!” How about “I wish my children were better!” OUCH. Yup, that one hurt to say, but it’s the truth! I hear many of my friends say it! I have listened to friends say, “I wish my relationship were different”! “I wish, I wish, I wish! The reality is we have to develop a backbone and start doing. It’s time to take full responsibility for our lives. It’s not anybody else’s responsibility. (I’m preaching to myself because I’m recognizing so many times that I allow circumstances to dictate my life rather than taking control.) Have you heard the adage “if it is to be it is up to me”? I firmly believe this quote! It’s time we take full responsibility for our life. We have to take control!

I know I was harsh. I said to stop being lazy and wishy-washy, get a backbone, and take action. It’s a lot. But I’m telling you this because I want you all to hear what I’m about to say to you right now:

You are important!

You are needed!

It’s too late for us to sit around and wait for somebody to do something someday!

“Some-day” is today! The some-body the world needs is YOU!

This time, I ask you to stop being lazy and wishy-washy.

The world doesn’t owe us anything! We owe the world, and we have to stop daydreaming start doing, and we have to develop a backbone, not a wishbone.

Well, now you’ve heard my brutal honesty. I hope you know my heart. Have an awesome day, and remember, success is a choice!
